We love great books. In the simplest terms, that’s why we decided to hold our first book contest in 2012―to award a deserving author with free publication of his or her manuscript as a print and e-book. That first contest resulted in the publication of Leo’s Birds by Mike Van Natta. In 2014 and 2016, the winners were Lost in the Tallgrass by Clyde Witt and Bestow On Us Your Grace by Jean DeVries. Read more about our previous winners.
We are excited to announce that we will begin accepting entries for our next contest this summer. To learn more or submit an entry, visit the 2018 Book Contest page.
The Book Place
The Write Place book division has been publishing since 2007, when a Central Iowa author asked the Write Place Owner Carol Van Klompenburg to help get his book to print. Since then, we have helped authors publish over 50 books, from fiction, to memoirs, to cookbooks, to history, to poetry.
Our authors can choose from a menu of self-publishing services. Our professional writers, editors, and graphic designers take a personalized approach to self-publishing. We can come in at any point in the process—writing, editing, cover design, layout, or publishing coordination. Our goal is to give authors a quality book that they’ll be proud to show to family and friends, as well as see online and in bookstores. View more Write Place titles.
