For several years I had been researching the history of the country schools of Marion County. Although many of these stories had been published in local newspapers, I felt they needed to be preserved in book form. Publishing my book The Quiet Road was a dream that was finally realized this past year. The whole experience was very satisfying. I wanted to deal with not only a local business but people whom I could see and talk to face to face. The editor and graphic designer were very helpful throughout the process and walked me through it all, as I needed their assistance. After all, this was my first time doing any publishing. We edited a lot, we collaborated on everything from the cover to the layout and design to the font styles.
