For 15 years, Ron Farnum flew his small red-and-white airplane above the jungles of Bolivia as a missionary bush pilot. He and his family’s adventures can now be experienced in Wings of Peace, published by the Write Place. It can be purchased from the author at wingsofpeace1528@gmail.com.
As a pilot for World Gospel Mission, Farnum, accompanied by his wife Bernice and eventually his two children, Sandra and Jim, provided air service to the missionaries and nationals in Bolivia, as well as actively evangelizing to Bolivians. “I wanted to write Wings of Peace to share with others the adventures I experienced while following God’s flight plan for my life,” said Farnum. “I want readers, especially my children and grandchildren, to be reminded of how God prepares and empowers His servants. I hope reading of the thrills and dangers of jungle flying and the opportunities of using a small airplane to reach people for Jesus inspire them to follow where God leads in their own lives.”
After leaving Bolivia, Farnum continued working for World Gospel Mission, then spent time in the pastorate and as a hospital chaplain. The Farnums now make their home in New Sharon, Iowa, where they enjoy spending time with their children and grandchildren.
