The Write Place is thrilled to welcome Sarah Purdy to our team in the role of writer and publishing consultant. Sarah started training with outgoing Editor and Book Division Coordinator Hannah Crawford on June 1 and will take over the role full-time in July. Sarah will join Graphic Designer Michelle Stam in the Pella, Iowa, office.
In her role with the Write Place, Sarah will lead the book division and provide writing, editing, and proofreading for business clients. “Welcoming Sarah to the Write Place team is a pleasure,” said Manager Lexie Thomas. “With her excellent writing skills, big-picture thinking ability, and positive work approach, she’ll be able to make an immediate contribution.”
“I am really looking forward to working with authors and business clients,” said Purdy. “I love the creative challenge of both writing and marketing, and I am so excited to join the Write Place team!”
Sarah is a 2016 graduate of Central College in Pella, Iowa, with a communication studies major and minors in French and history. She studied abroad at the University of London and completed an internship there with Benjamin Franklin House doing marketing and leading tours. Sarah also worked as a tutor in the Central College Tutoring and Writing Center for two years. Over her collegiate career, she received several honors, including earning Dean’s List recognition all eight semesters. She was chosen to receive Central’s 2016 C.A. and Frances L. DeBruin award for communication studies and presented her original undergraduate research, Creative Expression and Organizational Constraint in a Collegiate Music Ensemble, at the 2015 Iowa Communication Association (ICA) Conference.
In her spare time, Sarah enjoys running, reading, and watching Masterpiece Classic. She likes historical fiction and fantasy books, but she fell in love with 19th century British literature during her time in London. Her favorite books include Persuasion by Jane Austen and David Copperfield by Charles Dickens.
