The Write Place is excited to welcome Vera Snodgrass to our team for the summer! As an intern, she will be assisting with writing, editing, and proofreading for books and business clients, as well as Write Place social media and blog posts. Vera started training in early June and will be on board until mid-August.
“I’ve always loved talking to people,” Vera said. “Helping them make decisions and work through the process is rewarding to me, especially when I can also tell a story.” She looks forward to bringing a sharp eye for detail and thorough researching abilities to the team.
Vera is currently a student at the University of Iowa in Iowa City and will enter her junior year this fall. She is working on a major in creative writing on the publishing track, as well as a minor in media management. Vera works on campus as one of the creative directors for New Moon Magazine, a student-run literary magazine. She has designed and printed two books, one for class and another for personal enjoyment. So far in her collegiate career, Vera has earned Dean’s List recognition all four semesters and is one B off from straight As.
In her spare time, Vera enjoys reading, drawing, and going nuts over animation. Her favorite genre of book is science fiction, but there’s a big soft spot in her heart for fantasy. Some of the books on her shelf include the Wings of Fire series by Tui T. Sutherland and The Kingdom by Jess Rothenberg. If she were a type of shoe, she would be red galoshes covered in ladybug print.
