In Gypsy and the Pirate, mother-son author-illustrator team Gypsy and Vince Vagabond take readers young and old on a magical journey aboard the Atlantis Dream. The captain of the ship is Vince the Pirate, a swashbuckler who needs to decide what’s most important: his manly mustache, his cool boat, or the love of his family. His magical mom, Gypsy, has a hurricane of a plan that she hopes will teach Vince what it truly means to be a grown up.
The book was inspired by Vince becoming a teenager and conversations the author has had with her son about navigating adolescence. “Mostly, we wrote this book to get people to laugh,” she said. “But we also want readers to be reminded that people are more important than things or being cool.”
Gypsy and the Pirate was published through the Write Place. It is available for purchase online at Amazon and BarnesandNoble.com.
